Who We Are.
We are a group of friends that share a passion for the outdoors. You will not find a harder working or more honest team than ours. We pride ourselves on ensuring you have the best possible experience while chasing your trophy. From the backwoods lodging to the opportunity to hunt some of the best bear habitats in Manitoba, you cannot beat what is offered by Target Species.
What We Do.
We provide nonresident hunters with an opportunity to harvest trophy Black Bear in the province of Manitoba. Our hunts are fully equipped with everything needed to be successful. From tree stands to transportation, our goal is to provide clients with a relaxing experience without the worry of all the little details.
When It Happens.
Our Black Bear hunts normally take place the first full week of June. At this time of year, bears are fully out of hibernation and are hitting the food hard to replenish their energy after the long winter. This coincides with the breeding season bringing out the normally shy boars.
Where It Happens.
Our Black Bear hunts take place in the thick of Manitoba's northern forest near the 53rd parallel. Spanning 670 square miles, Target Species is the only outfitter permitted to guide non-resident hunters for black bear within the area. The closest town to our allocation is Grand Rapids, Manitoba situated approximately 30 miles north of camp.
Most Importantly - Why We Do It.
People often question why we put in the effort for others to hunt. The answer is simple. A true guide takes great pride in helping others succeed with hunting situations that might not be offered to them due to geography or ability. It is about sharing experiences, building friendships, and merging years of knowledge. The simple answer is...it’s fun!
Meet The Team.
Robert Karpiak
Robert is an award-winning hunter, outdoor writer, videographer, wilderness guide, and outfitter for nearly 30 years. Robert has guided for multiple big game species stretching from the Rocky Mountains of Alberta to the prairies of Manitoba. When Robert is not hunting, you will find him out on the water, open or frozen, pursuing his goal of being one of the top anglers in Manitoba.
Ron Dare
Ron is the newest member of the team but also the most experienced. Ron has made his living as a taxidermist, outfitter, and even a bush pilot. The knowledge Ron brings to our camp is unmatched. With Ron being a professional taxidermist, you can assure your trophy is handled properly prior to your departure.
Robert Law
Robert earns his living providing power to Canadians. Although he is an avid hunter himself, his true passion lies within the boreal forest running his snowmachine up and down his trap line. Robert is hands down the workhorse of the team. His skills with a chainsaw and pure strength are invaluable.
Stephanie Reling
Stephanie has been involved in the outdoor industry for over a decade. Her main passion is to capture hunting events on film and produce those into memories. Although Stephanie enjoys hunting for herself, her organization is truly her greatest strength. While in the camp, Stephanie will provide our clients with an organized, clean, comfortable experience with no stone unturned.
